Social Media Management

Written by Caujuan Mayo on May 19th 2021

It is simply a fact that in today’s society, any business or entrepreneur who does not have a social media presence will be ignored. Social media for people under 30 is the second most popular way of learning about new products & services.

Social media has been a huge reason why my businesses have been so successful. I stress this in all of my trainings as it is an integral part of all of my marketing strategies. Why not? They are free and generate immense exposure for businesses.

Here is a list of the most important benefits of using social media for businesses and entrepreneurs.

Benefit #1: They Help Build Your Brand

Building your brand on social media is one of the easiest things you can do to build your brand. It’s also one of the most cost-effective because the platforms are free. The potential is virtually limitless – your results are usually in direct proportion to the investment of time you put into it. Of course, I’ve found that most people do it incorrectly, which is why I spend a LOT of time in my trainings going over how to do it the correct way.

You can build so much awareness of your brand by building on a foundation of “likes,” and “love,” and getting people to share your pages or posts. Every new post has the potential to be put in front of a new segment of audience. The more creative and consistent you are with your posts, the better results you will get.

Benefit #2: Blogging Nurtures Your Relationships With New & Existing Customers

One can merely search in Google, for example, to find studies which confirm that a majority of businesses that use blogging as a part of their marketing strategy acquire customers. It’s self-evident that blogging is critical to maintaining the financial health of these businesses; yet, many businesses refuse to invest the time to blog regularly.

I’ve made a list of five benefits that I’ve found in my own businesses, and which I teach to my students.

It’s absolutely crucial that businesses keep producing content. You can reference this in my other articles for promoting better engagement with prospective customers but there is also a major SEO component to blogging which shouldn’t be ignored.

All of the major search engines are love fresh, relevant content and blogging is one of the most straightforward and inexpensive methods for a business to create this. A daily blog post provides Google, Bing, Yahoo, and other search engine with fresh reasons to index your website.

Benefit #3: Blogging Establishes You As An Expert

It goes beyond content, however. I teach my students how to insert relevant keywords in their blogs that have to do with their product or services people are searching for online. Incredibly, this part of blogging is often overlooked, to their detriment.

I like to characterize my engaged customers as loyal customers. I have a number of different businesses and the buying timeline is different for each of them. Sometimes, I know that a buyer won’t have the need to buy something from me again for a number of months. Blogging gives me the opportunity to maintain the connection with them.

There is a lot of competition online and a customer’s loyalty fades over time unless there is a reason to maintain contact with my company. I do this by providing high quality content that they find relevant and worth their while to consume. I encourage them to comment, and I make sure that I respond to them in a timely manner. All of this is designed to build and maintain trust in our relationship.

Benefit #4: You Get More Opportunities To Convert Prospects

It may seem like a hoary adage, but it is true that people tend to do business with people they know, like, & trust. Social media is an amazing platform to help people connect with you on a humanely basis, while giving you the chance to put your product/service/opportunity in front of them.

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of building your brand awareness. Blogging helps my prospects and existing customers see the personal side of me, beyond whatever it is I’m marketing at any given time.

Benefit #5: Blog Posts Can And Are Shared

Social media allows you to connect personally with your customers – I’ve already touched upon this but it’s important to delve a little deeper into it. I like to use the example of the frustrated older man, who is trying to get an actually person to talk to him on a company’s customer service line. Picture him yelling “Representative!!!!” louder and louder every 10 seconds.

When you connect with your customers on social media, they don’t need to scream “Representative!!!” at you. They can post on your wall; they can send you a direct message. You are accessible and people have and will pay more for that. Social media is the “antidote” to the “machine.”

Benefit #6: It’s VERY Cost-Effective

Social media marketing and blogging are THE most cost-efficient ways to grow one’s business. It costs nothing to sign up and create a profile on a social media platform. This greatly reduces your advertising costs, which makes every sale or new customer acquisition much more profitable. This allows you to invest more money into other areas of your business.
